We recognize that the state of Colorado holds high standards for its maturation education curricula, ensuring students receive information that is both timely and relevant.

Key Components of Maturation Education in Colorado (5-8th Grade):

  • Human Development & Maturation: A focus on understanding the human reproductive system, the changes experienced during puberty, and differentiating between typical and concerning developmental shifts.

  • Healthy Relationships: Teaching students to recognize what constitutes a healthy relationship, the importance of consent, and understanding the intricacies of different types of relationships.

  • Decision Making & Communication: Empowering students with decision-making skills about personal health and relationships and fostering effective communication techniques.

  • STIs and Prevention: Informing students about common sexually transmitted infections, their prevention, and the significance of timely testing and treatment.

  • Pregnancy & Contraception: Delivering knowledge on human reproduction, contraception methods, and making informed reproductive choices.

  • Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity: Promoting a respectful understanding of diverse identities and orientations, while addressing stereotypes and prejudices.

  • Personal Safety: Educating on recognizing signs of abuse, the importance of online safety, and advocating for self-reporting and seeking help when needed.
